Check the list of newsgroups to which this had been posted:
rec.music.makers.guitar.jazz, rec.music.classical.guitar,
alt.music.flamenco, rec.music.makers.guitar.acoustic.

The post is appropriate to both r.m.m.g.j. and r.m.m.g.a., given that
the music is both jazz and played on acoustic guitars. I would think
there would be more interest in gypsy jazz from a flamenco group than
from a classical guitar group, OTOH.

I don't read your newsgroup because, frankly, I haven't got a hope in
Hades of playing flamenco even remotely competently. You may not want
your newsgroup to receive such posts and might post a complaint, but if
you do you should trim the distribution list to avoid spamming all the
other crossposted groups. Even better would be sending an e-mail to the
offending party, if the consensus in your newsgroup is to not have such
posts, since there is no reason to assume the poster will check back to
see if anyone complained.

Another option would be to simply killfile the sender of that post, so
that you don't see them again in the future. If your newsreader is
sophisticated enough to filter using regular expressions, it'd be easy
to never see any posts about gypsy jazz. A quick review of your headers
indicates you are using the Google Groups Usenet interface, which
frankly sucks and is worth what you pay for it. You might find the
Usenet experience more pleasant with a real newsreader- faster and with
much greater control over what you see, as well as spell checking and
the like. You can find several free ones for your platform at:

Hope this helps!

Ok, thanks for that, I didn't realise it would be cross posted...

True, there is unlikely to be many classical guitarists interested in
gypsy jazz, however the similarity between flamenco and gyspy jazz is
so small you're just as likely to find a gypsy jazz aficionado in a
hindustani music group.

The fact is, if someone wants to see something about a certain topic,
its up to them to seek it out. Therefore a provider of info shouldn't
cross post to irrelevant groups...

Yes and whats more, alt.music.flamenco actually gets no posts at all and
we like to keep it that way.
