The *alboreá* or *albolá* is a flamenco
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flamenco> palo
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palo_%28flamenco%29> which is sung
only in Gypsy marriage rites, and many Gypsies refuse to sing it
outside this context or in the presence of non-Gypsies. It is linked
to the Gypsy romance
<http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gypsy_romance&action=edit&redlink=1>,
and derives many lyrics from it.

Question: is there a recording of Alboreá? The fact many Gypsies refuse
to sing it outside this context or in the presence of non-Gypsies
doesn't mean there is no recording of the performance of a real Gypsy
marriage rite.

I found two but not sure because I cannot read Spanish.

Question 2: marriage rites are depicted in two of Carlos Saura movies:

1. 1981: Bodas de Sangre
2. 1986: El amor brujo

Does Alboreá present in any of the two films?

Yes, it used to be considered unlucky to sing the alboreá outside a
wedding; But then Rafael Romero recorded it and nothing terrible
happened to him. Since then many people have recorded them. Here is a
sample:

On YouTube:

I don't know if you realise that there are two forms of alboreá: one to
the rhythm of the soleá por bulería, the other to that of the tanguillo.

Sorry I can't help you with your second question, I don't have these
films to hand.

Hope this helps.

Hi. You can download the two movies from here just in case you find
interesting:

ftp://www.openbanks.info/pub/Carlos_Saura/Carlos_Saura_1981_Bodas_de_Sangre.ogv
ftp://www.openbanks.info/pub/Carlos_Saura/Carlos_Saura_1986_El_amor_brujo.ogv

People might argue offering download as an ethical question, but in this
case the site offering the download runs in China, where all people
consider it a kind offer than an offense. In fact, "Download from the
Internet" could be the only answer to Chinese citizens if they need
video about flamenco, because there are no legal importer import this
kind of thing (most importers import pop music) and most people cannot
pay in USD (currency conversion is controlled in China) so they cannot
get legal copy from overseas.
