A lot of people swear by it, but I have reservations. You can find
several opinions here, including mine:

http://www.amazon.com/Traditional-Flamenco-Guitar-Vol-1/dp/0966413407/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228317508&sr=1-1

OOf the ones I've seen, Juan Martín's appeared the most thorough.

P.S I also recommend Dennis Koster's "Keys to Flamenco Guitar".

I agree on the Juan Martín method for beginners. It's quite good -
although "real" flamencos will say, he's not real flamenco (only half
spanish and born and raised in England).

Anyway,it's out there on the interet including audio files...

The relationship between nationality and ability to play Flamenco is
probabilistic, not syllogistic :-)

The late Ian Davies was better than most Spaniards ever get, and he had
no Spanish blood whatsoever.

In any case, the best players do not always make the best teachers (as
witness Mario Escudero, for example). My opinion of Juan Martín's
playing has no relation to my opinion of the usefulness and thoroughness
of his Method.

I totally agree... I just wrote to say, that many Spanish players may
tell you it's no good... but I too find it quite good.
